Description: Lands granted by the federal government to participants in military actions against Native Americans in California.
The "warrantee" on each patent indicates the man who participated in these actions. The "patentee" is the person who "located" the warrant, i.e. actually took possession of a piece of public land using the warrant, and was in most cases a different person or persons from the warrantee.
